In this way, you can use it as a convenient, portable music-streaming gateway and connect it to any music system to gain access to your PC's music collection. Transferring tracks is a little slow over Wi-Fi - you wouldn't want to copy more than a few tracks at a time - but it's a nice feature to have.
Browsing the media library on your PC while you listen is a surprisingly pleasant experience, and for copying across the odd album, it works very well.
The Wi-Fi also allows you to listen to a selection of podcast material stored on Creative's servers, including some BBC content, but this is of less use since you can't download content to the device. Other features include decent 16GB or 32GB capacities there's an 8GB version but this doesn't have Wi-Fi ; an FM tuner; a built-in speaker - for people who like annoying others on public transport - basic synchronisation of contacts tasks and calendar appointments with Microsoft Outlook; an integrated microphone so you can turn the X-Fi into a dictaphone if you want; and memory expansion via an SDHC memory card slot.
That's quite a list. In terms of its design, it's a little bit of a disappointment. It's not particularly slim at But that strange control system does work well once you get used to it, and in conjunction with Creative's excellent user interface, it makes the X-Fi a pleasure to use. The raised buttons make it easy to skip tracks, pause and change volume without having to take it out of your pocket.
The menus are customisable with different graphical themes and colours, and items on it can even be re-ordered if you so wish. There are search and artist look-up functions, on-the-fly playlist creation, and you can also place bookmarks using the context-sensitive menu system - useful when listening to long podcasts.
Despite this, though, the X-Fi remains a highly impressive player. It's absolutely crammed with features - some useful, some not - has good storage capacity and its memo Read full review.
The item is very light and can be held in the palm of your hand. The interface is quite easy to navigate through, although the buttons take a while to get used to. The 4 corner buttons seem useless, so I don't know why they were included.
Sound quality is superb, equalizer settings are flexible. The X-FI option really gives depth to the music. My only gripe is that it's a basic MP3 player and most are now tactile, this one is not.
So it's a little behind the times See Apple, Cowon, Sandisk, etc. Great job! I really like this player so far. I just got it and am still learning. The price was good and the comments on it were positive. Device prone to freezing - A LOT. Apparently, firmware update helps, but still, it is annoying. VERY HARD to make a playlist without using device itself - you're limited to computer if you want to do it easy and relatively painless.
For almost the same price you can get yourself iPOD 8 Gb that offers much better features, even if screen is a bit smaller. Overall Review: I like Creative Labs as a company and I use their sound cards, but this device is so flawed that they really need to invest a lot more time and money to make it worth and competitive. Stay with Apple, folks. At least for now. Pros: Bought the wife one 4gb for music 6mos ago then started loading transcoded movies on it and.
I just had to get one too cause they looked great. She got me the 8gb one for my birthday and we got cases and skins with it too. Just let the Zen converter transcode everything to wmv and all will be well. Contact newegg if they don't update the tracking info within a day or so of ordering to prevent any holdups with your products.
Overall Review: The plastic case covers the player and the screen. If you get it please, please, please, take off the little red or whatever color key ring attatched. It will scratch the case screen period, especially if you put it in your pocket etc. Take it off and just live without it, you will be happier, cause now i need a new case. Cons: It doesn't recognize music when I download it into the unit. Good luck getting a manual off the internet. I've looked and looked everywhere.
Google nor Creatives own sites are of no help. The people who run Creative must be to be clueless. Apples position as the leader in MP3's is totally safe at this point. It is slow to run through pictures. The camera that took them is 10x faster at showing them. Overall Review: I've owned three other Creative Players and I've never had trouble getting any of them to play music before. I've hunted for over an hour and have been unsuccessful at getting a manual.
Usually a 3 minute process with most companies. Cons: Battery life isnt quite as good as claimed to be, fm tuner isnt very sensitive, no ability to record fm thanks alot riaa , sound quality is pretty good but not superb. Sold by: Newegg Shipped by Newegg.
This item is currently out of stock and it may or may not be restocked. Out of Stock. Add To Wish List. Are you an E-Blast Insider? Me not having small fingers made it worse.
I came from ipod to walkman E to zune to sansa to walkman S all of these had a button devoted to volume control. With the zen you have either use up the shortcut button to have the somewhat the same volume control as the players listed above or go through a process to lower the volume. Take note to the above con. The left button is browse by letter the right button is browse songs individually. When playing a songs, lets say you go to the next song and decide the song you really want to listen to is right above the current playing song.
Instead of hitting back and going to portion of the song list where the song is playing, you go to the beginning of the list and have to find the song again. Once again imo this is a hassle since ipod haven't owned one in over 5 years , zune, walkman, nor sansa had me go through this.
I heard creative zen was a good player. Maybe just for them and not me like the ipod. One thing is for sure despite going through 5 different companies I can safely say ipod is at the bottom of the list of player I'd try again. Read full review. The screen is easy to see and the buttons make the menu simple and easy to maneuver.
I can also fit lots of photos and videos on my player, as well as my music. No other MP3 Player design works as simply and as easily as Creative, for me.. Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. It must be linked to a PC and not an Apple computer, so keep that in mind, but it will keep 10 bookmarks for your audiobooks and is really easy to use.
Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New. I've always loved Zen products, so it was an easy choice to get this player. Its easy to set up and organize all your songs.
The screen is just the right size for videos, and the player is still portable. Lize most Zen's the usb makes it the most user friendly and fast to charge.
